DARA at ORPHEUS: Strengthening the Future of PhD Education
DARA Director Philip Hallenborg recently represented DARA at the ORPHEUS Conference on PhD Education in Life Sciences, bringing together a diverse community of stakeholders from across Europe, including PhD fellows, supervisors, programme leaders, administrators and academic leaders. Despite differences in how PhD education is organised across countries and institutions, participants shared a common ambition: to create the best possible conditions for doctoral researchers to develop, thrive and excel.

Collaboration across borders and disciplines
A central theme throughout the conference was theimportance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Strengthening PhD educationrequires openness to different approaches and a willingness to learn fromexperiences across institutions and national contexts.
For DARA, the conference provided an importantopportunity to present the academy and its ambition to contribute to thedevelopment of research talent in Denmark. Philip Hallenborg also engaged indiscussions with colleagues from across Europe about how doctoral education canevolve to better support the next generation of researchers.
Looking ahead
The discussions at ORPHEUS reinforced the importanceof strong communities and collaboration in shaping the future of PhD education.For DARA, connecting with international colleagues and learning fromdevelopments across Europe is an important part of building a strong foundationfor research talent development in Denmark.
